How To Send Stems

- Export in WAV Format: Ensure all stems are exported as high-quality WAV files (16-bit or 24-bit for best results).

- Consistent Sample Rate: Use the same sample rate for all stems (typically 44.1kHz or 48kHz).

- No Effects on Tracks: Export stems without any processing (no EQ, compression, reverb, etc.), unless you want to keep a specific effect.

- Label Each Stem Clearly: Name each stem clearly by instrument and part (e.g., "Lead Vocal," "Kick Drum," "Snare," "Guitar L Ch1").

- Include Entire Song: Ensure all stems are exported from the beginning of the session to the end of the song, even if the part doesn't start at the beginning (so everything syncs correctly).

- Mono for Single Instruments: Export mono stems for single instruments (e.g., vocals, bass, lead guitar), and stereo for wide or panned instruments (e.g., stereo synths, drum overheads).

- Organize in Folders: Group stems by type (e.g., vocals, drums, instruments) and place them in organized folders for easy navigation.

- Include a Rough Mix: Send a rough mix or demo of your track to provide an idea of your vision for the final mix.

- Add Tempo/BPM Info: Include the BPM (beats per minute) and key signature of the song if applicable.

Each D.A.W has different ways of exporting stems ready for mixing so be sure to watch a video on your D.A.W’s method of exporting individual stems.
